Alaska Hand-Elbow-Shoulder (AkHES) is a locally owned and operated orthopedic clinic established in 2007 by Michael G. McNamara, M.D. Dr. McNamara opened Alaska Hand-Elbow-Shoulder to offer Alaskans dedicated care of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder in a private practice setting. He brings 20+ years of experience to AkHES. Orthopedic excellence for the upper extremity is what sets AkHES apart as Alaska’s Premier Upper Extremity Surgical Specialists. Our clinic is conveniently located in Suite 201 of the MGM Professional Building on Lake Otis Parkway in Midtown, Anchorage.
AkHES is an orthopedic clinic, meaning we focus on the treatment of the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves of the body. Since the opening of AkHES in 2007, Dr. McNamara has provided specialized evaluation and treatment for the upper extremity, including hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries and conditions. With the addition of Jason R. Gray, M.D. to our team in 2018, we extended our practice to include lower extremity fracture management, and Hip and Knee arthroplasty.
We evaluate and treat patients of all ages—from infants to elderly adults—and offer comprehensive treatment for a variety of injuries and conditions caused by sports injuries, disabilities, accidents, or degenerative diseases. On-site services, including x-ray, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound, allow our providers to more accurately diagnose and treat your condition. After diagnosing your injury or condition, our providers often recommend a course of conservative, non-surgical treatment and rehabilitation. We also offer minimally invasive surgical options or more complex surgical options when surgery is deemed necessary.
Like many Alaskans, both Dr. McNamara and Dr. Gray enjoy an active Alaskan lifestyle in the great outdoors. Thus, both Dr. McNamara and Dr. Gray understand the importance of getting you back to your active lifestyle as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Our team at Alaska Hand-Elbow-Shoulder will work for your health and healing and will strive to both relieve pain and restore function in the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip or knee to get you back to your active Alaskan lifestyle.
